Every Tuesday we bring you tips, tricks, and tutorials for using your Creative Cutter. We keep you informed on the latest tutorials and how to use your Creative Cutter to create the hottest projects. Keep up on our tips and you’ll start feel like you can make projects appear out of thin air!
Did you know that you can make your own fonts in the Inspiration Studio Software? YES!! You can! You could take your own handwriting or maybe your children’s handwriting and turn them into fonts to cut. You can also take a favorite font and turn it into a single stroke font for journaling with our Pen Tool. (If you are not familiar with our Pen Tool you should check out the videos to see what you can do with it.) Journaling Fonts cannot be cut because they are single lines, but they can be engraved, embossed and drawn. If you hate your own handwriting, you can use a journaling font, our pen tool and a gel pen to make it look like you wrote it out by hand.
In the tutorial I created for today, I will show you how to make a journaling font. (In a later tutorial I will show you tricks for turning handwriting into a font.) You can find the Font Create tools by clicking on the View button and choosing Toolbars. Scroll down and right under Zoom you will see Create Font. Selecting it will open the tool bar to make fonts. The process to make a font is a bit tedious, because you have to hand vectorize every letter, number and symbol. It is well worth it, however, when the end result is a font you will use over and over again. Watch the video (take notes!) and try it. I recommend that you know how to do hand vectorization, so if you don’t yet you might want to watch the video for that first. Find a font you have been wanting to use for journaling with the pen tool and start creating!

Do you want to share the fonts here in our forums or were you thinking about just sharing in general? You can copy the font file to another computer but the procedure will be different depending on the operating system. I think I will do a tutorial on locating and moving/saving files.

I would like to write in a spiral… is there an easy way to do this? I’ve tried doing text to path but can’t make the writing start on the outside of the spiral and go inward.
