Today I picked up my mat and looked at all the scratch marks, titles, and images that I’ve cut at one time or another. As a seasoned Inspiration user, I know that it’s normal to see all the things I’ve cut on my mat. In fact, it would be almost impossible to avoid it from happening since the blade lightly scores the mat as it cuts your images.
I don’t understand why my mat looks like the blade has cut into it. How do I avoid that from happening?

Since the paper that you place down on the mat is so thin it would be impossible to avoid the blade from making contact with the mat. As a result you will see almost every image you have cut on your mat. There’s not really a need to try to eliminate this from happening as long as the blade isn’t cutting entirely through the mat or putting deep gashes in the mat. Light score marks are normal and usually unavoidable. Don’t be afraid to increase the pressure to ensure the cut just to try and avoid score marks on your mats. A mat well scored means an Inspiration well used.
