Apple Mavericks, Yosemite and Your Inspiration

Attention Inspiration users using an Apple computer! Apple has introduced their new operating systems Mavericks and Yosemite, and we have discovered that your Inspiration will no longer work once you have upgraded(this does not effect any one using the Inspiration Vue). This affects anyone using the InVue, Adobe Illustrator plugin, Sure Cuts A Lot(SCAL), Makes the Cut, or any other third party software running on Apple. Apple released their own version of our driver that doesn’t appear to work. At the moment, we are waiting for an official fix from Apple or possibly even the maker of the driver.

We are expecting a resolution to this issue, but if you must get back up and running with the InVue software or the plugin, we did find the following commands you can run on your system from a terminal window. These commands are changing file names on your computer, so run them at your own risk.

cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns
sudo mv AppleUSBFTDI.kext AppleUSBFTDI.disabled
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

After running the above lines, you will need to reboot your system. The cutter should be functional at this point (assuming that the cutter was working prior to updating to Mavericks or Yosemite). If you any concerns or questions please contact Pazzles support at (866) 729-9537.

    Thanks for this work around for Mavericks. I have been hesitant to update my operating system, but I finally did and found so many applications no longer work. :-/

    nothing yet?? This is ridiculous that I can’t use my puzzles machine now for over a year. Can someone please find a fix through Apple. You should be working on customer service from your existing clients and not force them to go buy another cutter with another brand.

    Did you follow the instructions in the blog post above? That should make your Inspiration cut with Mavericks. Our technical support department can assist you with this as well.
