Okay, confession time! This project ended up being a completely different concept when I got through with it. I had intended on creating a message center to keep track of calendars, menus, lists, etc. However, I had a few things happen personally over the last week or so in my family that changed the idea.
The idea of having Love Notes is based on the idea that we look for positive and good things that are going on around us with our family. So many times we get caught up in the wrong or bad things others are doing that we create a negative circle in our lives. I hope with this idea and concept, we can all start to find the simplest good things we love about each other, even when it is hard. Then we need to write them down and put them up for the whole family to see the love note. This isn’t just for the parents, this is for the kids too. Maybe you have kids that argue, but if you have them start looking for something to love about each other, they can create a better bond with each other . Everybody, adults and children, love to see something good being said about them and what better way to do that. This is a great a family gift for your family.
I’m going to share a specific special moment that happened this week that made me change the concept. Willow, my granddaughter, came downstairs while I was putting together some shelves, etc that I was very excited to have received and could hardly wait to get them put together and start organizing. Well, when she came down, she was very interested in what I was doing. She also wanted me to be Maleficent and she was Princess Aurora. Generally, I would just have her stay out of the way and talk to her, but not help. I decided to get the stool and have her help me instead. She helped hold the screwdriver and helped hold the hammer when we nailed them in. She called me Maleficent and I called her Princess Aurora the entire time. I kept saying, “Oh, thank you so much for helping me Princess Aurora, you are doing such a good job.” Just about 3/4 of the way through, she just stopped and looked up at me with her big beautiful eyes and gave me the biggest hug and then kissed me. Then she did it again, about 5 times. I love this little girl all the time, but this was a moment that I think she knew how much I loved her. This will go on my Love Notes board, but as a moment of reminding me to enjoy the little moments, because those really are the big moments.
I’m planning on using my Love Notes board in conjunction with my Memory Jar from Day #5. As we take the love notes off the board, I will add a date and then put them in with the memories. I have started my memories a little earlier than 2016, but there is no time like right this second to start ‘catching’ your family doing kind things and showing each other love.
This was actually a very easy project to put together. The first thing I did was to spray paint my cookie sheet and tin can. Be sure and follow the instructions to get the best coverage. Also, be sure to allow plenty of dry time. You will have to allow time to dry to get both sides covered well.
Personalize a magnet for each person in your family. You can use the round pieces with an initial for your magnets, or if you prefer, create clothespins for magnets like the photo shows. I used the Matilde font with the Pazzles Pen Tool. This way everyone can watch for their special love notes.
