I love ruffles and pleats. They can soften a project that is too stark and add class to something that is too simple. Usually, I use fabric ruffled ribbons to add to my projects. But pretty as the ruffled and pleated fabric trims are, they can be a costly addition to my design. Recently I decided to try my hand at making my own ruffled and pleated ribbon out of paper.
I am really pleased with the results of my efforts. The cutting file is simple, just long and short kiss cut lines on a strip of paper. An 11″ strip of cardstock will result in a ruffle of approximately 5″ long which is perfect for adding to a card. If I want a longer ruffle, I can glue strips of paper together. The ruffles or pleats can be made from paper or cardstock. To make pleats you just crease all of the folds, if you want ruffles you leave some of the folds rounded. Now, I can have ruffles in any color of pattern I want without running to the store OR breaking my budget.
The cutting file includes 2 sizes of basic ruffles, 2 sizes of box fold ruffles and a curved ruffle.
I have included the hearts and Love title in the cutting file so that you can make the card shown here. So be sure to download the instructions and cutting file below.
