It never surprises me how easy it is for me to put off cleaning my house for several days. It’s so hard to get to the tasks at hand when there are so many other fun things to do like spend quality time with friends and family, and not to forget—crafting with your Inspiration! It’s easy to neglect all the clean up that acquires in your house when you don’t keep up on it. The same principle applies when it comes to tasks with your Inspiration, like checking to make sure that you don’t have adhesive build up on your rollers.
I’ve noticed that it seems like my rollers are having a hard time gripping when I load my mat. I’ve noticed I have some build up on the rollers. How can I remove the buildup so that the rollers grip my mat better?
Jon G. Tracy, CA.
To remove any build up on the Inspiration rollers, take a clean rag and gently wipe them down with warm water. Since the adhesive isn’t so sticky it won’t really require you to use any chemicals to remove the buildup. Another trick that I have done that works really well is taking a baby wipe and draping it over the edge of my mat and then load and unload the mat so that the bottom roller and the top roller are able to be cleaned at the same time. After you’ve cleaned the rollers it will be much easier to load and unload the mat, and you’ll find your Inspiration feeds the mat better as your projects are being cut too.
I like the idea of the baby wipe….how inspirational…LOL. I will have to try that one!
This is a great idea. I was thinking of monitor wipes or alcohol to “overcome the sticky”, but then I remembered that the wipes are great for cleaning the “gunk” off the mats as well. It only makes sense that the rollers will have bits of oils, adhesives, dust/debris from the air, and paper fuzz “imbedded in them. I’ll try to schedule regular cleanings of mats and rollers!
Fot particularly stubborn adhesive I use ‘Un Do’ adhesive remover on a cotton swab and follow up with a clean baby wipe.
Draped over the edge? I’d probably jam up my machine. A short video might help. Should one ever dismantle any part of the machine, for
what purpose, and how? Also, how do I get rid of paper residue on the mat?
I think she just means to lay the wipe on top of the mat and extending over the edge of the mat that feeds in to the Inspiration first.
Definitely don’t dismantle any part of the machine unless directly instructed to do so by a Pazzles employee. There shouldn’t be any need to.
You can get the large pieces of paper off with a Chizzel or an old credit card. If you have paper residue that is tiny like fuzz, you can wash the mat with warm water and mild soap. Don’t scrub it too hard though or you will scrub the adhesive right off!
I’m so glad you recommend the “baby wipes” I am never without Baby wipes in my scrapping tote. They are sooo useful and now I have another use for them. Thanks so much.
PS : Scrappers they also work really well, cleaning your rubber stamps. As I use my stamp, I immediately use the baby wipe and it’s ready to store again. (Of course does not work for our archive inks)
