DIY Lighted Ghost Decor
Halloween is a fun holiday with fun decorations that can be even more enjoyable when they are homemade, especially if they involve lights (my personal favorites).
I’ve recently become aware of flour sack towels and have discovered and thought of many uses for these versatile, washable textiles. I also enjoy utilizing fairy lights (mini wire string lights) to accent, well, just about everything. I like to repurpose and recycle, too, so this project incorporates an upcycled item.
Stands 11″ Tall with Simple Materials
This little cutie, which can be made with a cutesy face or scary face or any face you can find or create, is about 11 inches tall and about 12 inches wide and makes me think of E.T. while he’s trick or treating as a ghost. All of these items are regularly available at crafting outlets or department stores with crafting or home decor departments but if you can’t find the materials you could certainly try substitutes such as the following: I didn’t try it but I imagine a puck light could be used instead of the fairy lights (and I’ve seen a fun one that changes colors) and I would think that cheese cloth (layered enough to obscure the frame) would suffice as a substitute for the flour sack towel but these would give the ghost a little bit of a different look. Your ghost can be created in under an hour, probably under 30 minutes.
Supplies:
Flour Sack Towel
Black HTV
Transparent tape
White 12 inch pipe cleaners
Empty clear plastic 2L soda bottle
Clear plastic Christmas ornament (approximately 3 inch diameter)
Mini white string lights
