I have to admit that I struggle with creating designs that have that free style informality that is so popular in designs recently. I tend to be a more smooth and symmetrical kind of gal. I like using the manual or hand vectorization to trace my clipart or to make my own original designs. I usually like to make sure all of my lines are straight and my curves are smooth. (Unlike my own body! 🙂 ) Some might say I am a bit of a control freak. However………the new Freehand Draw tools in the Inspiration Studio Pro software might just get me to loosen up a bit. I admit it. I really like what I created for this lesson.
My previous experiences with free hand drawing in the software left me feeling pretty indifferent. I certainly could do better using other drawing tools. I am indifferent no longer. This set of tools will revolutionize the way I create designs. It seems to combine some of the best features of the software into one function. Draw your design, overlap lines, change colors and when you are done the program converts the design into a cutting file in seconds. It is truly amazing!
If you open up the tool window you will notice that you can draw black lines and white lines. When I first played with this I couldn’t figure out why the white lines didn’t seem to do anything. I finally determined that they are negatives or subtracting lines. They cannot stand alone, they only take away from what is already drawn. That was an Ah-Ha type moment for me, now I understand!! I also was pretty jazzed when I discovered that I could change the line thickness and line color in the Color Palette window. This was perfect for tracing around clipart. If the clipart was already outlined in black, I just chose a different color to trace around it.
Watch my tutorial to learn all the tricks I discovered. You will be glad you took a second look at these fabulous tools. If you don’t have the Pro software, what are you waiting for? It just keeps getting better and better!
Cheers! Chris
oh, that is great… thank you!
Excellent tutorial Christine. Super inspiration!
