It is challenge time! If this is your first challenge you can check out how our challenges work by clicking here. All you have to do is make a project, upload it, and we will randomly draw a winner to choose one of our FABULOUS prizes. This is totally based on PARTICIPATION so even if you are a beginner you can win! June is notoriously known as a wedding month and I am sure many of you have at least one or two weddings ahead of you this summer. So when Klo asked me to do the challenge this month I thought, why not use the oldest wedding saying I know as inspiration?
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
As a complete aside here is the symbolism behind this wedding tradition…
Something old – represents a link between the bride and her family and past
Something new – represents good luck and hope for a bright new future
Something borrowed – represents the support of the bride’s family and friends. Also usually comes from a happily married woman who’s marital happiness is suppose to carry over to the new bride.
Something blue – This color represents faithfulness, purity and loyalty. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns, as evidenced in proverbs like, “Marry in blue, lover be true.” *
Ok, now that you have enjoyed that fun little fact-oid, here is your June Challenge!
Create a project using something old, something new, and something blue
For the sake of not making this too hard we are going to skip “something borrowed”. Be imaginitive with this theme – something new can be something you have recently bought, something you have recently learned, or something you have never tried to do before. Something old can be something vintage looking, something you haven’t used in a very long time, something your mother gave you etc. Something blue is well….something blue 🙂
Also, THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE WEDDING THEMED. Obviously it works great for weddings and the timing is perfect for a wedding project, but it can work just as well for a Father’s Day card or a summer layout. So flex your creative muscles and get to work!
When you post your project, be sure to point out how you incorporated the challenge theme! You can post your projects here.
Oh boy making us use our brains on this one (that why they call it a CHALLENGE). =]
What about graduations? I have several this month, no weddings, but lots of grandkids graduating.
Absolutely, graduations work too!
