Using the Eraser Tools

Have you discovered the Eraser Tool bar? Are you using it or did you think to yourself, “hmm…interesting but I don’t think I will use it much”.  I want to encourage you to think again because those 3 eraser tools can do some pretty amazing things.

This is the Erase Button. Click it and the

Eraser Tool Bar will appear at the top of the page.

 Erase

This is the one you probably use the most. You can erase a segment or curve by clicking on it with the erase tool. It is really nice for opening up a space or deleting an unnecessary line. It will also erase several things at one time when you drag a box around it.

Erase Close

I have recently decided that this is a very useful tool and I want to remember to use it more often. You can erase a segment and it will close up the gap that normally is left with the standard erase tool. Be sure to watch my video to see what I use it for.

Erase by Color

I tend forget about some of the tools in the software and stick to the ones I have worked with for years now.  I know about them but I tuck them in the back of my mind and rarely remember to use them. Tatum stumbled on this a week ago and told me that I absolutely needed to do a video on this feature. I admit, it IS pretty cool. I am mentally chastising myself for not using this one more often because it definitely can save time.   I find it very valuable when I am using the outline tool to thicken up some text. It makes it easy to erase all pieces of one color with one click. No more click-delete, click-delete, click-delete while moving over and zooming in and out.

If you don’t know about these erase tools be sure to watch the video. If you are like me and know about them but don’t see how they would apply to your work, I encourage you to take a second look. They really are pretty awesome!

There are 3 different eraser tools in the Inspiration Studio software and each one has a unique function. In this tutorial you will learn when and how to use the Erase, Erase Close and Erase by Color tools. Knowing how to correctly use the tools will definitely speed up your design process. The tutorial includes the cutting file so that you can practice as you follow along.

Great video…I normally have to cut the image with the scissors and then deleting the part that I dont want…if the image hung over the edge of the page…this will help out alot…thinks for a great video…and the earse by color I’ve never done that neither…that will come in handy…

I love the erase by color tool! Funny how we all go through life with things that would make our lives easier…if we only knew that we had them…and then if only we would tap in on them!
