      Vinyl Journal

      Vinyl Journal
      by Loretta Mateik

      Supplies:
      Pazzles cutting machine
      Pazzles CD #46: Inked Up
Pazzles vinyl packs: Jewel and Neutral or colors of choice

      Chipboard: generic
      Cardstock: Charcoal textured (Bazzill)
      Black; grey; red: generic

      White paper (8 ½” x 11)

      Misc. supplies:
      Ribbon
      3 Screw top brads
      3 silver jump rings
      Walnut Ink

      Instructions:

1). Cover a 5 x 11” section of the cardstock chosen for the journal cover with black vinyl. Cut out cover file.

2). Cut strap from black cardstock. I manually covered it with black vinyl and trimmed to shape where needed. Cut out holes.

3). Cover a section of chip board large enough to cut out two swords with grey vinyl. Cut out swords. (Be sure one is a mirror image so when glued back to back, the grey vinyl shows on both sides). Adhere together making sure to sandwich ribbon between pieces at the top.

4). Cover a piece of grey cardstock large enough to cut out two chains with silver vinyl. Cut out chains, again being sure one is a mirror image. Adhere together.

5). Cover a piece of red cardstock large enough to cut out two hearts with red vinyl.
(one being a mirror image). Cut out hearts. Adhere together.

6). Cut out ‘Keep Out’ from black vinyl. Using transfer tape, transfer lettering to one side of the heart piece.

7). Punch holes in sword handle. Use jump rings to hang chain. (Trim length of chain if needed or desired). Attach heart from chain using jump ring.

8). Cut inside pages to fit from white paper using a paper trimmer. Lightly spritz with Walnut Ink to tone down the ‘whiteness’ if desired. Punch holes.

9). Thread other end of ribbon from sword piece through top hole of journal from inside and knot end to secure. Attach pages using screw brads.

10). Reduce the ‘silly skeleton’ file to size desired and cut out. Transfer to front cover where desired.

11). Wrap strap around journal and thread sword through holes to secure. (If desired, strap can be adhered to back side of journal only).

12). Embellish back/inside covers and pages if desired with more vinyl cut-outs
or personalize the journal with someone’s name.

I love seeing our designs from the CDs come to life in a project like this. What a neat way to use those images.

Thank you for your lovely comments. This project was so different from my regular style! But I enjoyed pushing myself and coming up with it! After all.....that's what it's all about......having fun and using the files out there for our own projects etc.!
