      Leather Matchbook
      By Amanda Vander Plaats

This little matchbook can be opened and folded so that it sits on your desk with the first inner page displaying. So I thought that it would be fun to make a portable sort of planner with a calendar and post it notes inside. The outside of the matchbook is done in a faux leather paper that has a really lovely feel and look to it and also seems like it might survive my purse a little better than regular cardstock. Hope you like it!

      Supplies:
      (1) 8.5x11 Chipboard (preferably 1mm thick)
      (1) 8.5x11 Leathertex paper by Wintech (if not available, use brown cardstock)
      (1) 12x12 Dark Orange cardstock (used Worldwin in Deep Terracotta)
      (2) 12x12 My Mind’s Eye Spirit “Sisters” Beloved Blooms
      (3) Large silver brads
Tim Holtz distressing ink in “Walnut Stain”

      Instructions:
At first I started with a thicker chipboard and found I had more trouble with it, not with cutting it but more so with covering and getting it to fold well. You may have more success than I did, but that was my experience. After cutting all of the pieces I covered the outside of my matchbox in the leathertex paper. I used the distressing ink to darken the seams where the matchbox folded so that they blended in better. Pushed the brads through the holes in the flap of my matchbox and attached the pages and then added the extras on the inside. I glued a stack of post-It notes to the last page and I also printed out a small calendar for the second page. Lastly I made a stencil from the same flower used on one of the pages. I simply cut the flower again out of cardstock and kept the negative. I then used the distressing ink and the stencil to sponge some patterns on the outside of my matchbox.
