I picked Vinyl for my projects. Vinyl is so versatile. You can use it alone or use it as a stencil for glass etching, airbrushing or painting. My first project using vinyl was to make a hanging plaque. After buying a routered wood base I painted it with 3 coats of white DecoArt Satin paint. The design was very easy to apply with transfer tape and a “squeegee” type tool to adhere the vinyl. Then I applied the flourish to each end and I was done with that portion of my project.
The glass etching was achieved by using the same design, making it smaller and using the reverse or negative of the design. Again, I applied the vinyl to the surface of my project. This way you pick out the letters and the etching crème (Etch-All) can be applied according to directions in the letters. After cleaning the beer mug I now have a matching gift for Father’s Day! Oh yes photographing etched glass is really hard!! Sorry about the glare!
