      4th of July

      4th of July
      by Sue Reynolds

This month we were asked to demonstrate the multitude of uses for the Pen Tool for the Pazzles Creative Cutters. The many uses include journaling, kiss cut inlines to create dimension, evenly spaced “pierced” dots….. the list goes on and on. I chose to highlight the fact you can make your own background paper and use fonts that would not be good for cutting out.

I used the Sakura Glue Pen to make a “fireworks” background. Then I layered different colors of PK Glitz Glitter on to the glue lines for a “fireworks effect”. Designing your own backgrounds means you can put your designs where you want them to highlight your layers above. Then I used a font that would normally not be a good “cutting” font. But with the Pen tool you can use any font. I used a PaperMate EraserMate* Pen for my text. Then using a detail silver embossing powder all over the penned lines and heating it, I get a raised effect that just makes the letters “pop”. This also creates a “well” to put glue in and then add glitter for even more dimension. (*Thanks Pam Conner for showing me the Erasermate trick I had forgotten from years before)
