      Etched Copper Barrette

      Etched Copper Barrette

After watching the recorded class on vinyl, I decided to cut a vinyl pattern to act as a resist for copper etching. I drew the barrette design in Adobe Illustrator and cut it in vinyl with my Pazzle. I then used a jeweler's saw to cut the blank from a sheet of 24 gauge copper and applied the vinyl to the blank. I was very pleased that the vinyl protected the fine detail of the design during the etching process. Finishing steps included adding a patina with Liver of Sulfer, polishing and shaping.
