      Christmas Nesting Boxes

Christmas Nesting Boxes and Ornaments (Amy Comstock Combs)

      Instructions:

      • Cut out your boxes from double sided pattered cardstock and put together using double stick tape and ink with brown cat eye chalk ink.
      • Cut out coordinating pieces for the boxes in colors indicated on cutting files and ink with brown cat eye chalk ink then attach to boxes with Scrappy Glue or other liquid glue.
      • The ornaments are just a little more work, but well worth the effort. There are 4 main pieces to each of the Snowflake, Tree and Star ornaments. By looking at the photos you can see that the pieces are inked then folded at the perforations and glued together to get a 3 dimensional effect. The gold ornament ribbon is glued into the ornament during this process so that it is secure.
      • The baby shoes are a great little ornament that is easy to follow. The tabs fold and adhere to the sole of the shoe to make the base and then you can use the second sole to cover the bottom and tabs of shoe for a finished look. The buckle is put together with a small brad and a snowflake to finish the look.
      • The neat thing about these boxes is that when the ornaments are on the tree you can place these boxes inside of each other for easy storing and it’s just really cool.
      • Remember if in doubt Ink!

This is really pretty! Hmm....gifts for people that you weren't expecting to give to. I really like this myself. Maybe, I will do something like this and have them on hand. Then, if I don't have to give them out...I will have a few new tree decorations. I love the finishing touch of the heart hanging inside of the tree!

I know that I just posted here, but had another idea as I look at this. I wonder if it would work. You could glue a wooden dow in between the trees at the top and instead of a star, place a head onto the wooden dow. Paint or rub on a face and a halo and instead of a Christmas tree, it would become an angel. Just another variation. I love these kinds of patterns...they can be manipulated for what is needed at the time. Thanks for the idea!
