Inspiration Blade Holder

It’s pretty easy to forget all the work that little blade holder does in the Inspiration. When we think of cutting, we think of the entire unit. Which is true, but the blade holder has a lot to do with that process. Not only does it cut your projects, but it also plays a big part in the quality of those cuts. This is one of the first things you will want to check if the quality of your cuts aren’t up to par. However, it’s important to get to know your blade holder and what blade length you are using for specific materials. We’ve made it very convenient to determine what blade length you are using by just simply twisting the dial on the blade holder. You should never have to extend the blade out past a 2 ½ or 3 when working with cardstock. This is where you will work more with the pressure to determine what combination of pressure and blade length work best for you to cut completely through your project. Keep in mind that when you are working with light weight papers like vellum, or working with vinyl you will want to reduce the amount of blade you have showing. For me, I have found that reducing the blade down to a 1 ½ works best for cutting vinyl. Of course depending on whether I want to just cut the top part of the vinyl or the paper backing as well will depend on the amount of pressure I use. Not working with the blade holder itself to adjust the amount of blade length you are using, is like only using half of the capabilities of your Inspiration. Keep that in mind the next time you are cutting your favorite papers, vinyl, vellums and fabrics. Don’t be afraid to work with the blade length. Just remember that pressure also plays a significant role as well, and the combination of the two together will give you the best results possible.
