Pazzles Retreat FAQ

What does the retreat registration fee cover?

Your fee covers the classes, class kits, lunch each day, snacks and beverages.

How soon should I make the hotel reservation?

As soon as possible. The hotel offers us a special rate and holds a block of rooms rate for our retreat. They usually require us to release the block hold a month in advance. After that date you are not guaranteed the lower rate.

How many classes are there?

Typically, we teach a minimum of 6 – 7 sessions that are approximately 2 hours each. This depends on the each group of attendees. We sometimes move faster and are able to add in an extra session.

Why do you require I have the Inspiration Studio Pro software?

The teachers will use the Pro software as they teach. There are many features that are new and there are several that are improved in the Pro software. We have found that the majority of our attendees already own the Pro software as well. In order to make sure everyone can follow along it is best that we all use the same software.

Do I need a computer?

Yes, the lessons are hands-on and you should have a laptop computer for the classes. If you are coming with a friend, you can share with them but it is not recommended.

Do I need my Inspiration or Pro (professional size) cutter?

It is recommended that you bring your Inspiration or Pro cutter to the retreat. We will have an Inspiration cutter available for use in the back of the room for those who cannot bring theirs. However, you will get the maximum benefit from the retreat if you have both a computer and your cutter with you.

I am a beginner. Will I be able to keep up?

Yes, we start with the basics and build on them as we move along. We also allocate time for one-on-one help from the teachers. We have created a video, ‘What to Know before You Go,’ that you should watch before attending. We don’t expect you to be proficient with the skills shown in the video but it will help you to be familiar with them.

Is there anything else I should know before attending the retreat?

You should be familiar with basic computer skills: how to open a file; how to save a file and find it; how to do a search on the internet (Google or Bing for instance). It would be helpful if you know how to download a file from the internet.

Are there goody bags and door prizes?

Absolutely! Each attendee receives a generous goody bag packed full all the materials needed to  make all of the class projects plus other special treats. There are also fabulous door prizes at every retreat!

Is there time to crop?

You will have time to work on the projects from the classes. There is usually not time to do personal crop projects.

What kind of supplies do I need to bring?

  • • A paper cutter/slicer
  • • A strong liquid adhesive and a tape runner
  • • Hand scissors
  • • A good mat and an extra blade
  • • Any tools for the Inspiration that you already own (Pen, Piercing, Engraving etc.)
  • • Neutral colors of 12 x 12 card stock. Our projects are primarily cards but they can easily be converted to a scrapbook page

Will I be able to buy mats and blades at the retreat? Will there be a Pazzles store?

There will be a small Pazzles store at the retreat. All basic supplies will be available plus other popular Pazzles products. If you live locally, this is a great way to save on shipping costs.
