Birthday Celebration Card

BirthdayCard_webIt’s so much fun to receive a handmade card and know that someone cared enough to spend the time to make it. You can brighten someone’s day by making the perfect card using the cut files in the Craft Room Library. Today I’m sharing a card that comes together quickly and can be customized for the person receiving it.

To make this card I chose a herringbone design from Overlays in the Decorative category. I resized the overlay to 4″ x 5″ to fit the front of my card. Next I chose a birthday present image from the Birthday section under Occasions. The large scalloped oval and the jewel tag are found by selecting the Tags button in the Pazzles Inspiration Studio software.

Once all of my Craft Room files were cut and adhered to the card, I added a few decorative embellishments with the twine, buttons, crochet flower and rhinestone.

Have fun with this design. Change the background overlay, change out the patterned papers, or replace the birthday gift with another image to completely change the theme of the card. A simple change of colors can make this card perfect for the man in your life.

Designer Tip: When selecting the patterned paper to place behind your overlay be mindful of the size of the pattern image. Select a paper with a small pattern, so the overlay will not break up the pattern image. A background paper with large hearts on it would be a poor choice, as the hearts would be visually broken up by the overlay.

Great job in showing how to bring different images from the library together to make a fun and creative card.

Thanks for the inspiration. I’m making blank cards these days and need special fronts – the herringbone pattern and the others in the library will work perfectly!

I would not have guessed that this was the herringbone pattern when looking at the file….great choice. When I first saw it in the library, I put it in the back of my mind to make an embossing folder with it. This is kind of the opposite and I like it. 🙂
