My best friend recently got on a plane for a three-month stint in a foreign country teaching English. All I can think is how much I’ll miss her, even though I realize how selfish that is. This experience is something she’s wanted to do for so long, it’s a small miracle that it actually happened. I try to focus on how short the trip actually is and that she’ll be back soon! With her trip in mind, I made this shaped owl card.
I used the Hoot Owl file from the Craft Room Library to make my card. My completed shaped card file will be in the Craft Room Library on Friday and is also linked below. Making your own shaped card from a file is easy. We have a tutorial on the Video page under Fundamentals.
I used the Inspiration Pen tool to write ‘owl miss you’ on the inside bottom panel of the card and ‘come back soon’ on the back of the card. Come ‘back’ soon… aren’t I so punny!
We received a lovely package from our friends at Scrapbooker’s Painted Page with some of their new Prismagic card stock, which is all I used for this project. It’s 65 pound solid-core cover and we were all impressed with the way it cuts. I was happy they sent all the neon shades because I really wanted to get in on the trend. My friend’s not actually a fan of hot pink, but I think she’ll get over it!
Supplies:
- • Prismagic 65# Card Stock in: Sweet Tooth (white), Candy Kiss, Razzleberry, Tropical Starburst, Lemon Drop
- • Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze 3-D Pen in Red
- • Inspiration Pen Tool
- • Adhesive

This is really sweet. I know how you feel. I had to leave behind my best friend 21 years ago. We live 1000 miles away from one another….but we are more like sisters now then friends. So, hang in there! It will be worth it. 🙂
