Both of my kids are almost in middle school and I have yet to start a school album for either of them. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but it seems a little overwhelming and so I keep just piling their school picture packets in a drawer and filling up a file folder with special schoolwork and awards. But this week that all changed! I decided to put together a collection of school scrapbook pages and items you’d need for a school album. I thought through the process before I started designing the School Days Album Collection and decided that the essentials for a school album were: a first day page, a page for their school photo or class photo, a sample of their schoolwork, and a place for their report card.
As a fun bonus I included a yearly “info” page you can print out and have your kids fill out each year.
The collection also includes a variety of embellishment pieces and extra titles you can use to customize your album. I’ve included page layouts for each of the pages I mentioned above, but be sure and check out our Cut and Paste Sketches for even more layout options you can customize with the embellishments.
Here’s one more idea to try. I save just the schoolwork that shows creative writing or some sort of creativity. I’ve included a school work pocket page in the collection, but in my own album I cut the grade label file from vinyl and adhered it right to a page protector. That way I can tuck everything inside, but it can still be pulled out in years to come.
I hope this inspires you to get started on a school album, or pick up where you left off with a few new ideas. I’m promising myself I’ll keep working on it so I can get caught up.
