Explosion Tower Box

I created this massive explosion memory box tower as a graduation gift for my grandaughter. You can decorate your box for any occasion. Instead of the graduation-themed embellishments included with this project, you might use decorations for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, or any occasion.

The hexagon box itself measures 11.5” in diameter, but when fully open, it expands to about 36” in diameter, and is 15.5” tall. It makes for quite an impressive party centerpiece!

The project base consists of two explosion boxes with lids. Each panel of the explosion boxes contains a pocket for a tag, mini album, or other interactive surprise.

On top of the base are two more graduated-sized boxes which have exploding lids, and these are topped with a small box with a 3d paper flower-adorned lid. The lids form a tiered “cake” when stacked, to help celebrate the occasion.

A collection of 24 different matted words of encouragement adorn the side panels of the boxes and top lid. These words could be used on any themed explosion memory box tower.

Graduation-themed borders and toppers embellish the lids. The resizable borders and toppers could alternately be used in traditional scrapbooks, cards, home décor, gifts, or graduation party décor.

I added 56 photos to my Explosion Memory Box Tower, but I could have fit a lot more in by adding up to 12 mini albums to the pocket tags included in the two exploding bases. Each mini album may hold up to 12 photos. That is a potential of another 144 photos! Each tag holds 2 photos as well.

The small box on top contains a hexagon-shaped mini album that can also be made to hold dozens of wallet-sized photos that will fit in the box lid. There is still plenty of room in that 5” wide by 3.5” tall box for a small gift or gift card.

You will want to get the entire collection, and get started making your own Explosion Memory Box Tower! Allow plenty of time for cutting and assembly (instructions included), and enjoy the creation process!

Julie has included a video showing the completed project too!
