Lighted Halloween Shadow Box

Klo is the person that actually gave me the idea for this lighted shadow box. This is a fantastic Halloween decoration that includes a working light. Set in a window at night for a spooktacular shadow box!

Use a Pre-Made Shadow Box or Make Your Own

You could make this project using a purchased shadow box. Instead, I made my own out of foam board and paper. It was a little challenging, but fun all at the same time. I put the scenes together using ½” foam board. I didn’t have black foam board, so I used strips of the textured cardstock to cover the areas on the foam board with skor-tape. I used an X-acto knife to cut the foam board strips, but I didn’t like how it turned out. So, I broke down and bought a foam board cutter, which I listed in the supplies list. I have needed it before this and thought I would use it in the future. I am glad that I did.

Add Some Color

I wanted to add a little color to this project because it was all in black. I printed out my vellum on my Canon printer to achieve the colors that I wanted. I used a glossy photo paper setting because it would print out too wet with all other settings.

Video Tutorial Included

I have included a video on how to make this box. So, I hope to see your projects in the future. I thought this was so cool because you don’t need to buy a shadow box from a craft store. I hope that you enjoy this project as much as I did!
