DIY O Holy Night Christmas Card
The inspiration for this project came straight from my Inspirational Bicycle Canvas! The little triangles that came out of the spokes of the bicycle wheel made me think of little evergreen trees and Christmastime, so this Christmas card was born.
You don’t have to make the Inspirational Bicycle Canvas to make this project (though I highly recommend it *wink*); all the necessary pieces are in this file. If you are repurposing the spaces between the spokes from the other project all the correlating pieces are color-coded so you can quickly assemble the card.
Take A Break from Your Chaos and Get a Head Start On Christmas
This is a perfect opportunity this time of year to make ahead some cards for your stash, especially Christmas cards so that more time in the season can be devoted to the reason for the season and spending time with loved ones.
Making things ahead lends to happy feelings of preparedness, and having “O Holy Night” running through my head while I designed and assembled the project was a pleasantly calming break from the anxiety of the times.
Easily Resize and Adapt for Different Looks
The file makes a 5 x 7 inch card but it can be resized or even adapted to be a portion of a scrapbook page or the bottom of a larger picture frame. The trees were coated using a paint pen, fine glitter and clear acrylic (to hold the glitter), but substitutions of leftover or sample latex paints or silver or gold metallic markers would also look great. Try making the card base from very deep midnight blue, or using Dimensional Magic in place of the pearl stickers. Make similar cards with the other triangles in the bicycle spokes, or re-orienting the card to portrait (especially nice with the skinnier, taller “trees” from the spokes. Whatever you choose, make several cards ahead so you’ll be ready to send warm Christmas wishes to important folks in your life. Enjoy!
Convert to An All-Occasion Card
This also makes a lovely all-occasion card. Take off the “O Holy Night” title or replace it with another title. Use fall inspired colors or pastels and you have a beautiful card that is perfect all year around!
