Quilling

When I saw user kl71389 ‘s projects I was in love instantly. Where I got stuck though was picking just ONE of her projects for the Fabulous Find! I finally gave up and decided that there was no way I could pick one of these cards above the others. For those of you who haven’t ever seen this style before, it is called “Quilling” and involves taking strips of paper and coiling them around a quilling needle, and gluing them to create decorative shapes. This form of paper art has been around for quite some time – think Renaissance days! More recently quilling has seen a revival in crafting.  kl71389’s projects are absolutely beautiful examples of what can be done with quilling. Aren’t her little animals just adorable? Her ice cream cone is also just perfect with the color diecuts, quilling accents, and weaved paper for the waffle cone! Thank you so much for sharing with us kl71389!

Quilling is a great accent for cards … my favorite instructional book is Twirled Paper by Klutz – it comes with paper, a quilling tool, google eyes and glue + instructions for lots of cute animals like the ones above. Look for it on Klutz.com. It’s <$12 on Amazon (although their picture of the book doesn't do it justice). Add a couple items from your scrapbooking supplies (I know you all have these already) … a pair of scissors, a ruler and a pair of tweezers (reverse-action works best for me) and you've got everything you need. I own this and have given it as a gift many times – I have no connection to Klutz, I just happen to love the book! Good for both kids and adults.
