How about a weekend with wonderful women learning more about your favorite cutting machine? Would you attend?
We are hoping to have our first ever Pazzles Retreat in the fall! Before we get too far in the planning process we wanted to get your feedback so that we can make it the best experience possible. The first retreat will be held here in Idaho with the hope that we can expand into other regions of the United States if the first one goes well.
Some of the things we would like to know are:
- What kinds of classes would you like to see? Tools; Technique; Make and Takes, Cutting Different Materials; Question and Answer Sessions or ?
- Would you like to have a crop/social in the evenings, in other words: an open time to work on whatever Pazzle Projects you want?
- Do you want to bring your cutting machine? Or do you just want to work in the software?
- Are there any specific things you would like to learn?
- Do you prefer a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event or just a Saturday/Sunday format?
Please help us out by leaving feedback in the comment box below.
All of the above. Where do I sign up?
West Coast would be so much closer to Australia!!! 🙂
I LOVE all of the options you mentioned. The only thing that is missing is shopping. When I have organized other retreats, Friday nights are good for a bonus night, like a special speaker with dinner and an intro of what’s to come. Then Saturday and Sunday are a choice of workshops. This way everyone gets what they want and what they can afford. One other option is a limited number of volunteer opportunities for those that can’t afford the retreat. They can help with registration, and sales etc. Then in return for their service, they get to attend some of the workshops.Just a thought 🙂
Idaho in the fall – rather a trip from Florida but sounds interesting. I would definitely want to have tools and techniques, cutting a variety of materials and lots of software classes. I want to learn how to cut fabric for projects etc.
As for cutting out – seems like that would be unnecessary to me as long as I can have files to bring home on a USB flash drive. It would be nice to see demos of the design cutting out (similar to Klo’s classes) but not required. If I am going to travel then I would want a Friday – Sunday event. HTH
My friend Sandy and I would be interested in any of the options. We are beginners with this cutter so some 101 classes would be helpful. Fri-Sun. would be our pref. We will be coming from Michigan. Would love to come!!!
I would be coming from Calfornia so would prefer 3 days to make the trip worthwhile. Maybe there could be two offerings? One for beginners and another for more advanced? I have a case so would be happy to bring my machine but some should be available for those that can’t bring theirs. A list of different classes that could be either attended by signing up or free time to work on projects with some more experienced helpers? A schedule that would offer some flexibility I would enjoy more. I need help trying vinyl or making rubber stamps, or rhinestone projects, etc.
I agree with Adeline in that a USB flash drive would be nice to have with all of the files that we used during the retreat. My friend Kathy and I would come from Texas so we would want an all weekend event. Time in the evenings to crop would be preferred.
I would love the long weekend. Someone mentioned coming to Florida…I live here and the hotels are very cheap during the summer because of the heat…but who would be outdoors during this retreat? Orlando offers up resort hotels at motel prices during the summer. However, this would not be fair to those coming from far away unless their families do the Disney or Universal circut while they do the Pazzles retreat…meeting up afterwards.
But to be fair to everyone, you may want to consider doing it in a central location in the country to be fair to everyone who would be traveling there….or to have 2 or 4 retreats…North, south, east, and west.
As for the content, I would love hands on help with engraving, embossing….the tools. I am always up for the program education…but that is easy to learn remotely from the Internet. I would prefer learning how to do things with the machine.
If you do come to Florida….let me know. I would love to volunteer.
I would love a long weekend. I liked what Teresa said about a speaker Friday evening as a bonus. Also having workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
I would like for there to be a large crop space, maybe as a base space to go to workshops, because ideas shared between users is good too. Evening crops for sure.
I would like to bring my machine. Something about actually cutting the material or design before I go home would make it feel like I really learned the concept. Besides when it doesn’t work as I expect the professionals are there to show me what I did wrong.
I am really excited about this idea.
I agree with Diane Kane
This sounds wonderful! I am a beginner and would love to learn more. Workshops sound great…I am mostly interested in scrapbooking uses- full page layouts, converting clip art to actual cut files, titles, etc. I would want to bring my pazzle or have one available to use, so I can make sure what I am doing actually cuts out well, too. Idaho would be close enough to drive for me, but I’m having a baby in Aug, so probably won’t be able to come to one this fall.
YES, YES and YES to all of the above. I live in Caldwell and would LOVE to have a three day event in this area! All the videos you have are quite wonderful (wouldn’t have gotten this far without them) but an “in person” event would be even better.
There are so many things I would like to learn more about. And a crop at night, shopping, both speakers as well as hands on projects with our own machines . . . all would be just wonderful.
I’ve wanted to ask you about this for so long, so this is a perfect suggestion!
A long weekend would be great. Classes and time to crop. Speaker would be great too. Location is not a problem, I’m in Washington State.
Yee Haw! You’ve read my mind. All of the above and definitely want to bring my machine so that I cut out projects and see if I did it right. 😉 Maybe even a tech there to tune up machines. Klo’s classes and videos are fabulous but it is hard to split screen my computer and pay attention to Klo’s instructions at the same time. Three nights with 4 days of instructions and hands on cutting. YES PLEASE! West United States works for me.
Yes – I would love to go to a seminar in the fall.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday event.
I love all of the ideas. However, I live in Maryland, so if it was closer to this side, I’d be there. So, I’ll wait to see what happens. Good luck on the first one!!
That would be great!! I need a beginners class. The fall would be great.
Some where in the Midwest would be perfect I live in St.Louis
I’m happy to see all the positive feedback! I need dates so I can start planning (saving)! I’m from the Midwest (Chi. area) also, but I have never been to Idaho, so I’m willing to travel. But another planned for the Midwest would be icing on the cake. I’m sure Klo wouldn’t mind somewhere like Omaha! Florida sounds great too! I guess just about anywhere would work!
A getaway sounds perfect! I would be interested (of course!) in make and takes, tecqniques. I want to bring my machine, so I can learn hands on.
The midwest is perfect, how about Grand Island Klo? LOL
Yes!! Pazzle Empowerment!!
Do you need help organizing one in the Inland Empire of California (Near the Ontario Convention Center)?
I would like Friday, Sat, and Sunday. I want to take home lots of goodies that I’ve made that show me lots of techniques. I want to learn everything! I’m a total beginner even though I’ve had my Pazzle nearly a year. I will bring my machine so I get real hands on help.
I will help anywhere you need to get a workshop launched in my area. Or, I will save up and travel. Hurry, I can’t wait!
Yes I would be interested in all of the above.
Heart to Heart Scrapbooking
I totally agree with Teresa Sorosjind’s comments and most of the others following. I would be willing to be a volunteer in order to be able to afford the trip. Three days would be great!!!
I would love to come. I have issues with my machine and I am sure it operator error. I would be willing to bring my machine. Three days or more is fine with me. I want hands on help with cutting, writing, embossing, the whole kit and kaboodle. I want to learn how to take a picture from wherever and cut it out or draw it or whatever on my pazzles.
This would be fantastic as I am still learning my machine and have no one local to help me. It would be nice to be with a group of people that know the product and have experience to show me how to get the best use out of my machine.
I hope this takes place!!!
I think this is a great idea if it is centrally located. I love the class’s idea will they be in both softwares? Yes I would like crop time, will there be shopping available?
Alas…..just heard that your going to be doing this in the middle of October….when I will be visiting family in PA! I would have loved to have attended. I will look for the next one.
Someone suggested servicing our machines…I love that idea. I hate the idea of sending my baby through the mail where I KNOW that it will be tossed around. If I could take it somewhere to be serviced..I would much rather do that. My suggestion would be to make reservations for servicing before the event so that you will know how much manpower you will need to service everyone….as well as how many materials you will need. We could have appointments to turn them in. I think that would be a win-win situation for everyone. I just wish that I could come at this time and bring my older one.
We have a vacation planned in October as well – but hopefully I will find a way to make the Retreat. Since I’m new to Pazzles all classes would be of benefit and I would prefer the three day retreat over two days.
Also, I checked out “http://www.visitidaho.org” and am very interested in checking out your State, weather permitting. It looks beautiful!
I’m a beginner with this machine. In fact, I bought it in May and only have used it a couple times. Kinda intimidated by it all. I think a retreat for this would be wonderful!
I liked Victoria’s suggestion. Actually having 4 sessions…north, south, east and west so that everyone would have an opportunity to attend.
Yes…would love a weekend retreat. However, I am in South Twxas…TX, LA, or Ok would be great locations. Hope the first one is awesome so others will happen! Love my Inspiration!
I would be interested in a one or two day event that included a Friday. I’d want to know the dates well ahead of time so I could schedule my flight back to visit my daughter in Idaho (I live now in Virginia and bought my Pazzles at the GASC convention last month).
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I would like to see ummmm….EVERYTHING!!!!! AND ANYTHING!!!
I would like at least 2 DAYS IF NOT 3!!! and somewhere relatively close to Connecticut….may be at one of our popular casinos…they have fabulous ball rooms and there is the incredibly beautiful Mystic Marriott located in beautiful Groton, Ct., with a red door spa, great food, elegant rooms, etc.
Where can we sign up and when will there be definite dates posted? My vacation schedule is up now for all of the fall and up to Christmas! ugghhh and it comes down on the 15th of this month.
OCTOBER?????? YES, YES AND YES! (Or is this just a rumor?) Seriously, October would be a fantastic time. Right after the Portland Scrapbook Expo. YES!
Wow… love the idea. I am new to Pazzles, so would love hands on demonstrations with knowledgeable helpers. The idea of the 4 corners (N.S.E.W.) is great, as I live in Michigan! Everyones comments are good, and I would love to help out to save money. Three day weekend for me as Teresa Sorosjinda suggested. And bringing my machine is OK; or if you have some we could share a class with that would save wear and tear on ours, as we are not as experienced at travelling with our machines as you are. Dates, times, cost all of these would help greatly for planning. THANKS!
I would love to have a hands on workshop. I would prefer a Friday, Sat, and Sunday workshop. I would love demonstrations for many things the pazzle can do.
this sounds like a blast….and yes to everything however the big question is how much would something like this cost and for those who have to fly the extra cost. heres another question would we need to rent a car to get from the airport or could a shuttle be avalible?
Let me know what the end decision is…. would love to attend if possible.
I would love a beginners class. Fri through Sun. I would not like to carry my machine, so you would need lots of machines and at least one computer for everyone. I do not have a laptop so couldn’t bring my own computer with program. I am from California, so if it is 3 full days would probably need to book a night before and after in a hotel. Hopefully you could arrange a good rate.
I cannot answer all the questions yet however I do have some answers:
If you live in California a flight to Boise is about 2 hours from anywhere. Washington and Oregon likewise. You can drive from Salt Lake in 6 hours, Portland in 8 hours and Seattle or Sacramento in 10 hours.
There will be a hotel shuttle.
I would love a retreat! All day Friday with into / 101 classes, evening dinner and open forum for questions. Saturday some choices for classes … etching / embossing / pen work etc. Sunday more classes (although so many are church types maybe something non critical in the morning and the afternoon additional classes.
I would like to shop the Pazzles store (perhaps with a discount) to get some CD’s or material to work with . .. Opportunity to apply what I learn would be lovely (Fri. & Sat. evening). I am ready to drive on up!!!
Yes, would love a seminar to learn all there is to learn. I have two friends that will come if at all possible for a Friday through Sunday. Please just let us know.
I would love to attend. I would like to learn about special tools like pen, etching etc. and just getting better at the basics–welding and especially vectoring. I work with vinyl. Would there be classes for people who do not work with paper? Thank you!
I would love to have all of the things listed. I think a three day (Fri – Sun) would be great maybe with the option of doing shorter time if you can’t be there for all. I would love to be able to bring my cutter as well to experiment with. Would love social time /crop kind of thing as well.
Would love a 3 day workshop. Would love to bring my cutter, but would be flying and not convenient. Therefore would be fantastic if there were cutters there to use. Could bring my laptop. Any classes to learn all I could would be great. Would be even better if you had a retreat closer to me in California though. Discounts on products purchased at the retreat would be awesome as well. Classess on tools, techniques, Demos and make and takes sound perfect.
I agree….all the above… I’d love the 3 day workshop and as I live in Oregon I can drive!!!!!!!
Oh, just don’t have it the weekend of the Woman’s Show (with a CHA pavilion in the fall. (Orlando)
Yes — don’t want to bring machine or computer. Would like to learn how to cut different materials. Saturday only class would be fine with me.
I think this is a great idea! I got mine for Christmas but the learning curve is killing me! I have a cricut too and they are soooo different. I would opt for the all day fri sat. option~ then have different price for sunday. To bring my laptop and machine would be great so I can do and cut the things I am learning. It would be convenient if we could buy all the attachments and things you see on the site when we touch and play with them. To have them discounted during the retreat is a good idea..hint hint…
As for classes~ I need software lessons:) and then hands on tutorials for the added toys! There are so many techniques that I am interested in doing but just can’t figure out 🙂 Think make and takes. I am not sure if this would be better done as a whole inclusive price or price out each class~ I am not wanting to break the bank to attend but need to also make good use of my time and learn every thing I need to use this machine.
As for the guest speaker, I am not interested. I know about the product I just can’t use it! Some have talked about crop time~I don’t want to actually scrap but I think free time or space to play with the pazzle would be helpful. Sometimes ?s don’t come up till I am in the middle of a project, so having help there and handy is what I am needing. And with that I will end this novella, I can’t wait for all the details!
So many good ideas that people have. They all sound great. But, I really would like to have a retreat in the Orlando, Florida area for your next retreat, please!
I would love to have a weekend retreat where I can actually learn to use my Pazzles Inspiration. With a busy life I haven’t had the time to really use the machine and all it can do. I have attended almost every venue up and down the east coast and taught at quite a few of them and my favorite ones are those that start on Friday and carry through Noon on Sunday. The classes were all inclusive (we bring our laptops and cutting machines) to create projects that teach us every aspect of these great machines and even could be used to practice what we have learned, finish up projects from that days classes or even get some individualized assistance with a problem from one of the expert users/instructors. going home with completed projects and a book of instructions (electronic or hardcopy) that will jog my memory when it fails – well that would be a great retreat and I would attend. I believe that having one on each coast and one in the middle would be very well attended. I might even suggest as Amy does above – one group for us newbies and a second group for advanced users and I think you have a no fail combination.
I’m another YES. I’d love to come to ID — just live across the border in UT and it would be great to spend dedicated time on my Pazzles machine learning.
I would like to as well. Beginner classes too, while I’ve had my Inspiration for a while I just have not had the time to really learn it. I would LOVE to learn the print n cut method. I do 3D/paper tole cards and am tired of cutting them by hand. Tried the videos but again…no time to learn dive into them. Watching and trying to do at the same time.
I would love to see one in Chicago. But might fly to Idaho anyway. Will you be having it in a specific hotel where we can book rooms?
I would like to bring my machine. Working with it makes the lesson stick! I would love to learn what is on the new software, I purchased my Inspiration just before you came out with the new software. I would like to learn how to cut different materials. I have never used the drawing or embossing tool and I would love to try those. I would like a question and answer session, I still have problems making an image that will only cut along the outside edge.
I use my computer so much with my Pazzles importing images, that having a free work session wouldn’t work for me, I don’t have a laptop computer to bring along. It would be nice to have a rest session early afternoon so we can socialize with other “pazzlelers” or take a nap!
I would love to come to Idaho but the expens would be to great for me. I would love to see one in the central US. From New Orleans to Chicago. Branson, MO is another idea.
Idaho is a bit too far to travel from Perth, Western Australia 😀 But if there were enough Aussie girls interested I think an Australian retreat would be amazing!
would love to have one for beginners and advance where we can learn more and someone on hand to help and answer questions. need to know what it would cost, though. love to see it more centrally located though. i am from OK.
when and where. All of the above sounds fun.
Hope to be able to join. Bringing machine would be great.
You always learn so much from everyone at these get togethers.
A pazzles retreat, WOW!! I would love Idaho in the late summer or early fall. Coming from Houston, TX the temperature would have to be an improvement. I would like Fri-Sat-Sun. Maybe arrive Thursday night.
Come to Michigan!!
I would love a retreat, I have a Pazzle Pro machine and need more advanced classes 🙂 I think a 3 day would be great and haveing two tracks – both beginner and advanced optimal (I know this is the first but I can dream LOL) Even better would be a 3 day event with the Firday being optional so that those of us who may be unable to take time off work can be there and not miss too much!! Learning about the tools and attachments, new products etc would be fantastic. I think bringing my machine would be beneficial so that I could create projects as I was learning, if we bring our machines you could also have an onsite cleaning/servicing service that we could schedule an appointment for since we’ll be there =D How exciting! I hope I can come to the first one.
I am a baby beginner and would like any and all information taught. I want to bring the cutter so I can learn from beginning to end of a project. The teaching has to be hands on for me to get any of it.
I am interested in everything you have mentioned. I would like to bring my machine to learn how to better cut different medium.
Idaho is good for me.
Forgot to mention that I prefer a full weekend as I will be travelling several hundred miles.
All great ideas but one suggestion on what NOT to do…attended several classes at the MI Mega Meet and in order to demo/teach as many teachniques as possible, many of the teachers didn’t finish anything. Unfortunately I think I still have a bag of 1/2 assembled projects waiting for me in my scrapbook room.
I am open to just about anything – had a rocky start to getting my PI to do what I wanted. Works good now but would like to expand my horizons, learning how to use all the tools, cutting diff materials, etc. I could probably figure it out, but I never seem to have the time. A weekend would be awesome!
