Once in a while, I find a cutting file that is so versatile that I keep finding new ways to use it. The cutting file for today’s Ornament Box is a perfect example. On Friday we added the Round Box cutting file to the library, but you might recognize this file from the fall Cornucopia project. It started as a pumpkin for the Cornucopia and with a few adjustments it became an apple and a pear for the cornucopia as well.
Since we are all in a holiday mood it did not take long to see its potential as an ornament. I reduced the size and turned it into a box to create the Round Box cutting file. I thought it would make a great ornament box that could be filled with candy or a gift. To make the project a bit more special, I created panels of patterned paper for each edge of the ornament. As a bonus I’ve shared the cutting file for these panels below. I used a large eyed needle to thread a small ribbon through the top as a hanger. I filled it with candy and tied it closed with a ribbon. Imagine the fun of sending the kids to the tree on Christmas day to find their ornament treat.

Lovely Chris! I’ve downloaded the file and intend to make up some of these soonest!
Love It!!! great for those small gifts…and easy to hide out in the open
These are beautiful Chris. They would be great for the gift cards I’m giving my daughter in law! (She loves gift cards more than anything else).
What a great idea to put gift cards in them!!!
Chris, I am trying to figure out the cutting file for this and there is a kiss line for a fold (?) on the straight edges, does this fold into the inside of the “box”?
I love how you have been recently using existing files and refreshing it to make new projects.
Gloria-
Yes-the bottom of the flaps fold up into the inside of the box top. This adds a bit of bulk to the top piece so it will stay securely on.
wher do I find directions on how to assemble thid
You can see instructions for the ball in the Fall Cornucopia project. See the link above. The only thing you need to know is that you are not making a full ball. The ball half has tabs that are fold in and glued inside at the rim to give stability.
Thank you for this! We are using these to make our advent calendar. I am so excited to see how they turn out.
I would love to make these boxes _ are they available in SVG format???
azanna-The files are available in the Craft Room Library as an SVG here: https://www.pazzles.net/wordpress/library?g2_itemId=131091
