Watercolor Sketched Layout

Beautiful-You-Layout

I love the watercolor trend that is showing up everywhere right now. It’s fairly easy to achieve this look with the help of my Inspiration. Although I can’t doodle or freehand sketch to save my life, I do have the Pazzles Pen Tool. With the Pen Tool I can cheat and have the machine make my hand drawn designs. Instead of Kindergarten art, I get a professional looking sketch, which makes it easy to add water colored elements to my projects. Let me show you the steps I took to make this page.Watercolor-Step-1

I first drew out my title and sketched flowers with the Pen Tool and a Copic Multiliner (0.5). Any permanent marker will work for this project. I like to use Copic Multiliners and Fine Line Sharpies. Draw out your design and remove your page from your mat.

Next I used my Multiliner to fill in the word “you”. I wanted it to stand out and I used the same pen to fill in the sketched lines.

You can use watercolors, or watercolor pencils and a blender pen to fill in your title and add some color to your flowers. I used metallic watercolors because I like the unique colors, but Crayola watercolors work great too. Let your title and flowers dry. If your page is curled from excess water, place it under a book for a bit after it has dried.

Watercolor-Step-2Cut out the rest of your pieces and finish up your page. This is a fabulous way to make cool customized titles for your layouts as well. Pen Tool sketch your title and then cut it out. Use watercolors to color in the letters any way you’d like.

I hope you make time to try out this fun technique. I’m including the file for my layout, but we also have an entire section of the Craft Room Library dedicated to these single stroke sketch images.

A beautiful LO. I am glad that you showed this. I want to explore the pen tool. I like the idea of drawing the flowers w Pazzles. I have been wondering about the purpose of single stroke designs.
