Happy Anniversary Cat Lover Card

Cat Lover Anniversary Card

I enjoy making cards for family and friends, and along with birthday cards, I make anniversary cards. A few years ago, I realized that I make at least a dozen anniversary cards per year. The card recipients either don’t know each other or live far apart, so I began creating cards using the same basic design for all of them. I can customize the cards by using different papers or colors or adding a slightly different sentiment to emphasize the anniversary year. It is a huge time saver to be able to use one design, cut all the pieces at one time, and then simply assemble the cards as they are needed or when time allows.

For this year’s card, after “browsing” though Pazzles Craft Room Library files, I found the adorable Heart Cat file. My family is crazy for cats, so this was the perfect theme for my card. The Flap Fold card base was perfect for my cats to peek out around, but I wanted a 5 x 7 card and simply enlarged it and sized the cats to fit. To make the cats distinctive, I modified the Cat Face file, turning it into a Pen Tool design for my lady cat by erasing a few lines. To make the cat one solid shape, the pieces were welded then outlined so it could be drawn with the Pen Tool and cut. Creating the heart background piece was quick and easy by placing the cats tail to tail, outlining them and erasing the unneeded lines. Adding dimension to the cats was a snap by cutting custom “pop ups” out of 2 mm sheet foam using the inner design line. The cats needed some personality, the Dad card provided the perfect bowtie for my gentleman cat and the lady cat looks chic in the bow Kitty Kat is wearing. My favorite fonts for drawing are Pazzles fonts; using Pro 14 software made it easy to use PZ Sadie max and Basket Medium fonts to create the words on the card flaps. Adding a silhouette from Cat silhouette set to my front flap made it “cool”. Coloring the cats with markers and colored pencils added dimension and irresistible charm.
I really enjoy combining different files to create the perfect cards to give to family and friends. The Craft Room Library designs are terrific for creating unique projects. Using the search feature is quick and easy to find exactly the pieces desired for any project. Please Pazzles friends, help keep this cat card a secret—because I’ve already cut out several of these cute little cats for my anniversary cards this year!
