Create a Special Lantern for Your Little Campers
This magical lantern makes a sleepover or campout just a little more fun and exciting. Your little campers or sleepover buddies will have a special glow with their very own lantern.
Upcycle A Disinfectant Wipe or Baby Wipe Container
What do you get when you combine an empty plastic cylindrical container, Pazzles vinyl, a puck light, some ribbon, buttons, beads and cotton craft floss? This lantern! You probably already have some of these containers floating around your house – they usually contain disinfectant wipes or baby wipes. Once one is empty, just pop off the lid and you’ve got the base for your lantern!
More Upcycling to Create a Colorful Light
I used a puck light (see link in supply list below) for the inside of the lantern. I added colored plastic strips to the top of it so that it gave off a beautiful rainbow light. For the plastic strips, the tabs from old notebook dividers work perfectly!
Decorate As You Wish to Customize
My lantern is especially sweet with “Fairy kisses and mermaid wishes” but you can decorate this with just about anything you want. Just find images from the craft room library – you could make it a space theme, or fireflies, or unicorns – the possibilities are endless!
Supplies:
Pazzles Vinyl – black (or try colors)
Empty disinfecting wipes cylindrical white container
– (approximately 12 inch circumference by 7.5 inch tall)
Pazzles transfer tape
Satin ribbon in 1 to 3 coordinating colors (⅛ inch width by approximately 18 inches)
Cotton craft floss – two pieces, approximately 18 inches each
Puck light or soap light
Transparent colored plastic notebook dividers
Invisible tape (such as Scotch tape)
Colorful beads or buttons like these
