DIY Sunflower Cork Memo Board
This project has been on my mind for awhile. I love to think of different ways to use things and thought up this project. I also recently thought it would be fun to create a project that’s bigger than most, utilizing whole pages of cardstock for portions of a whole.
Creates a 2 foot Wide Message Board
Message boards are a great way for individuals, roommates, or families to have a central location to communicate with each other or themselves for such things as grocery lists and other reminders, as well as a place for photos to hang out other than on the refrigerator door. This finished project is about 2 feet in diameter, and can be resized to fit with smaller plant mats.
Complete in 20 Minutes!
Be sure to get the type of mat that has enough thickness to the cork for the tacks to hold securely. This is a fairly quick project which should be able to be completed in about 20 minutes (excluding drying time for adhesive for the hanger).
Easily Adaptable to Other Flower Types
Check out the Pazzles Craft Room Library for other flower types you could incorporate into a flower cork board as a separate board or companion to the sunflower. Just draw a circle in the software that is the diameter of the cork mat you wish to use, then resize the flower file of your choice to fit with whatever size cork mat you want to use! Separate the flower into pieces that fit your material (cardstock, etc.) and mat; cut, accent, arrange, and assemble. Enjoy!
Supplies
1 cork plant mat, 12” diameter, .24 “ thick
5 sheets yellow cardstock, 12’ x 12” (from Colorbök Premium Dyed Solid-Core Cardstock pack)
Thumb tacks with black or brown tops (or color them with Sharpie)
Orange water color
Picture hanger
Sharpie if needed to color the tacks brown or black
