DIY Seedy Garden Sign
Our family members each have their own unique sense of humor and as a collective we enjoy honing our wordie wit as we chat through chores, meals or family activities.
I saw a sign with a similar sentiment a long while back and thought I’d make my own version.
Shadow Box Allows for a Dimensional Layered Design
Shadowbox frames have become a favorite of mine, I think because I really like their chunky look.For this project I decided to make it as layered as the frame would allow with a back layer sunflower, and front layer watermelon, and an outer layer title on the glass itself.
This project will only take a matter of a few minutes for the moderately experienced, and not much longer for the novice.
Tons of Options and Can Be Seasonally Altered
The way this has been assembled does not permanently alter the frame so if you’d like to change it out to hold other seasonal sentiments you can easily do so; just unpin the sunflower and remove the paper pieced parts, and wash off the marker with rubbing alcohol or a magic eraser sponge. If you can’t find the brand of shadowbox I used you could use another or even a used frame, or make your own if you’re handy; if your alternate frame doesn’t come with pins, just use any short straight pin. You could do the title with vinyl instead of tracing with permanent marker. If you live in a low-humidity area I would think this project would do just fine outdoors under cover and out of direct sunlight, such as on the siding or on a post that doesn’t get direct rain.
Supplies:
Cardstock in colors corresponding to the photos (from Colorbök Premium Dyed Solid-Core Cardstock pack, Darice 20 Color Smooth Premium Cardstock, 12″ x 12″)
Shadowbox Frame 9” x 9” – white (keep the pins, if they came with it)
4” x 4” scrap cardstock
Glue Stick or crafters tape
Glue pen
3D Foam Dot
