DIY Happy Glitter Shaker Card
Visiting the local variety store with my creative thinking cap on usually leads to bringing home an element or two of a fun functional project. One trip resulted in finding no gusset treat bags that I used as glass replacement for a 4″ x 6″ opening picture frame. It also clicked that I could use the bags to create shaker cards with confetti and/or glitter inside and only one end to seal up. Thus was born the Happy Shaker Glitter Card.
Choose Your Own Confetti and/or Glitter for the Shaker
You can attach the title inside the bag with the confetti or glitter, or outside, and you can make a nearly endless variety of confetti pieces by choosing or creating shapes that fit the occasion and look you like. Use silhouette shapes of rubber duckies, baby pigs, socks, onesies, rattles, and balloons for a baby card, balloons, cakes, and presents for a birthday card, flowers and rings for an anniversary card. With many shapes available in the Pazzles Craft Room Library it’s easy to find just the cute shapes you’d like to use. The card in the file is a 5″ x 7″ card which fits in a standard card envelope, and it can be resized smaller or larger as needed.
Recycle Home Materials for the Shaker Window
If you can’t find any gusset treat bags, you could try using the corner of a sheet protector or even the plastic cover from a Pazzles Mat (clean it thoroughly with glass cleaner or alcohol wipes). Just cut to size, and glue and let thoroughly dry the edges that aren’t already closed (up to three), then fill and seal as in the instructions. This project should take around a half hour or less, depending on experience level.
Materials:
Cardstock in color(s) of choice (utilize scrap pieces for the confetti shapes, if desired)
Glue Stick or crafters tape
Double sided permanent tape
Clear plastic treat bags, no gusset, size 7.1 x 4.7 inches 100cm x 120 cm)
Fine pearlescent glitter
