Keyboard Shortcuts

Thanks to all of you for the shortcut tips! I have updated the tutorial and the PDF list of shortcuts. Even if you viewed this recently be sure to take a look at the last 2 minutes and download the revised PDF. Special thanks to Camilla from Pazzles for alerting me to some Fabulous shortcuts.

The email started out “Mom, you are going to kill me but”. Believe me, when Amanda sent that to me, it really got my attention! Most conversations or phone calls that start out in that way do not usually contain good news, but this one did. Her email went on: ” draw a shape, hold down your Shift key and try to move your shape anywhere on the page. This works in any version of our software.” Nothing else, just those instructions.

Naturally, I went to my computer to try it out. Wow! No matter what direction I moved my mouse, straight, diagonal or anything in between; the shape stayed either perfectly horizontal or vertical in relation to the original position. This will be great when I want to move my design to the right or left, up or down but need to keep it aligned. I really can’t seem to do it justice by explaining what the shortcut does so I suggest you go try it yourself. While you are at it try the shortcut I stumbled upon as well. Click and hold down the Control key and move your image. When you release your mouse button a duplicate will appear. This is a ‘shorter’ shortcut for our Duplicate tool.

How did we just happen on these shortcuts? They are common shortcuts in other image editing software like Photoshop. We just forgot what program we were in when we used it.

It has been a while since our shortcut tutorial was made, so I have updated it and added the 2 new ones in as well. Even if you are a long time Pazzles user, it is worth revisiting the shortcut tutorial. I know I rediscovered some shortcuts I had forgotten about. The Shortcut PDF has also been updated so you will want to be sure and print it out to keep it handy.

Three cheers for shortcuts and happy discoveries!

Chris

Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are a combination of keys that you press on your keyboard to make the software do a certain task. Although you can always use buttons to do the same tasks, using keyboard shortcuts can often be faster. If you have already mastered the Inspiration Studio features and are just looking for some shortcuts to speed up certain tasks, this is the perfect tutorial for you!

Thanks for the new tips. Now if there were only a shortcut to erase duplicate path. 🙂

I love doing this. I have used this shortcut for years. Especially when I’m making word books. Thanks for the reminders on some of the other ones. It is funny, I use shortcuts so much, that sometimes I forget they are a short cut….*grin
