Ah, those wonderful summer days! July is so lovely, so perfect for vacations on the beach, building sand castles, catching crabs and celebrating Independence Day.
This vintage look calendar page features a welded title, with spots for your wonderful photos. This page was easy to cut and assemble; the key is using coordinated papers from a favorite paper line. Minimal supplies were required- only two patterned papers, two solid cardstocks, distress inks, enamel accents and adhesive were used.
The welded background piece is cut in one single layer. For added dimension to key parts, additional replica pieces were placed over the welded backdrop. To make the castle appear rounded, two castles were placed on top of each other, with foam adhesive between the layers. Two layers of stacked foam tape were placed in the center of the castle with thin strips in a single layer on the edges. The edges of the castles were inked with distress ink and two separate castles were created, one layered over the backdrop piece, the other on the left side of the page. After drawing the eyes on the crabs with the pen tool, Enamel Accents were used to create the eyes, first applying black, which was allowed to dry, and adding just a touch of white. Distress inks were used on all of the paper edges, which helps give it a vintage look and helps the edges stand out.
As you are creating this page as you sip your hot chocolate in front of a warm fire, dream about the beach and building sand castles, while listening to the castanets of the dancing crabs.
