Winter Day

This weekend it was very cold and it seemed to be an indoor play day. With two boys, staying indoors can be kind of problematic. They have a lot of energy to get out. I wanted to introduce crafts into their play so that it was not all video games, guns and swords. It seems a little boy will turn anything into a gun, no matter what you do! Anything from blocks to clothes pins will make great weapons. I thought, “why not use paper?”Toy Dagger I created different toys in my software and then we cut them out of chipboard, paper and foam. The boys assembled the projects and decorated them with brads and jewels. They spent hours playing with their new toys. It was more special because they made them instead of buying them at a store.
Winter Day Toy Gun Some of us here at the office were discussing that sometimes images that take a long time to create turn out o.k. while ones that take us no time at all turn out awesome. Making play swords and guns with my boys truly proved this correct. Check out the files under projects in the image library that  I made for this Winter play day.
I would love to hear some of your winter day play ideas.

I just checked these out in the library and they are cute. I will have to remember these when the grandchildren are here visiting. They love crafts to begin with. I am the crafting Grandma and Aunt. When they come, we are always in this room…which is fun for us and gives a break to mom and dad. I just wish that we could do this more often. Enjoy your children because in the blink of an eye, they will be grown and off on their own. Most of my friends are new empty nesters and are having a time of it. So, mothers and fathers…enjoy your kids while you can!
