Starting and Stopping in the Right Direction

My stopping and starting points are not lining up correctly. Do I have my settings configured wrong?

Jon C. Sparrow, NM

Have you ever been concerned with your stop and starting points not meeting up when you cut your project? The first thing that you will want to check is to make sure that you’ve done the updates from our website. The next step will be to take a look at your speed setting and pressure. The combination of the two can really affect the start and stop points. As the Inspiration cuts, the blade is swiveling inside of the blade holder. If there is an excessive amount of pressure down on the mat or the speed is too high then the blade can’t swivel properly and as a result it will not be able to complete the cut and come back to the starting position. Start by reducing the pressure and back down on the speed. If you need help figuring out the correct settings, try using our Settings Guide which can be found in the “Cutting 101” forum or in our video tutorials titled Determine the Blade Length & Pressure under “The Fundamentals” section.

Thank you! I have problems cutting the detail designs like paper lace or swirls. The detail quality of the cut is poor or the paper moves then new mats are so sticky they tear or curl so bad they are hard to use I will try to slow down. I will also check out more tutorials on this problem. N.

I agree with Tatum. Pressure and blade length are so important. If I am doing a really detailed project like paper lace, I prefer to cut twice at a lower pressure making sure my blade is not too long.

Great segment. The right one always seems to be posted the week I am having that same problem. Thank you.
