The Piercing Tool

Piercing has been a decorative accent for a very long time. Think of punched tin pie safes and lanterns from days gone by. More recently, we have fallen in love with stitching through punched holes to make fun accents on our cards and pages. One particularly elegant look that has been a favorite in Europe is the art of piercing many tiny holes into vellum for a lacey look.

This Pierced Butterfly Page features tiny pierced holes on many of the elements. This feature gives a delicate touch of whimsy to the design. Creating a page like this with a hand piercing tool would be a long and tedious undertaking; however, by using my Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Cutter and the Piercing Tool, I avoided all the hard work.

Not only can I pierce paper, but I can pierce foiling metal and vellum as well. The Inspiration Studio Software allows me to determine where I want the piercing, and how far apart I want the holes. That means I have complete control of the design and can create a look that is entirely my own.

Watch the video below to learn how to use the Piercing Tool. I have also included the files for making the Pierced Butterfly Page. The piercing lines are not converted so you can choose how far apart you want to space the holes.  Keep in mind that the closer together the holes are, the longer it will take to pierce the pieces. You have to admit that the results are worth the effort!

This is one item on my wish list. I haven’t gotten all that tools yet for my pazzles. Being on disability I’m on a tight budget cause of this. But every birthday and Christmas I get a little more.
Great video always reminding us to keep our minds open and thinking. We all fall into a rut and always do the same things. Thanks!

Top of the wish list now . . . This tool is nothing short of amazing. I can so see the potential especially with the piercing on vellum! I know there is a name for that art. It is absolutely stunning. Maybe my first project to upload will be one using that.
