Paper Birdhouse Gift Box by Joanna Wright

During the early summer mornings I am often woken up by the singing of the birds in our garden.  Recently, my children have been filling up our wooden bird boxes in the garden with nuts, which reminded me of the House Box that I had seen in the Pazzles Craft Room.

I enjoy making 3D projects with my Pazzles Inspiration, so I thought one of the Box Houses could easily transform into a Bird Box, which would make a lovely gift filled with items for someone moving into a new home.

When I had the Box House on my visual mat, I drew a simple heart shape, selected outline and placed it in the center of the house.  I also used the cute Snow Bird from the Craft Room Library, the leaves from the Image Gallery in my software (12-D) and cut them out of coordinating card stock.

I made myself an extra layer for the roof.  I simply duplicated the Box House and used the scissor tool (Cut Path) to select the section of the roof that I required.  I then selected Tools in the Color Transformation Menu and selected the scissor design to make the trim on my roof. I then had fun adding my embellishments!

I love this! One of my friends collects birdhouses of all kinds, I could see this sitting on her shelf with all the others. Beautiful!

Oh you make it sound so easy I would kill to be able to make this bird house – I love bird houses when I seen this I almost started crying I love it so much. Thanks for sharing. If you ever decide to do a tutorial on this I want in 🙂 You are the best!

countryanne – this is quite a simple project. The file is in the library and if you follow my instructions above it will be easy to replicate. You could always cut a rectangular piece of paper to cover the roof and then use a border punch for the edges if you did not feel confident to design it in your software. Hope you give it a go.
