Easy Thank You Card: Layered Rosette + Background Overlay

Easy-Thank-You-Card-MBThank-You-Card-Recipe-3

Today I am sharing a super quick and easy card featuring files from the Craft Room Library. I wanted to create a card that could possibly work for a masculine recipient. Here is what I came up with.

My finished card size is 5″ x 6.5″. My base was from regular Bazzill Kraft cardstock. I started by cutting a white mat an 1/8” down from my base size. I then cut another mat from patterned paper an 1/8″ smaller than that, using a small grid patterned paper. Next,  I used the Chevron Paper Lace file from the library and sized it to 4.5″ x 6″. I cut it from regular blue cardstock. I then used the Downy Feather file and cut two of them from another piece of patterned paper. For my final cut, I used one of the rosette files from the Rosette and Swags project and cut out two rosette strips at 1.5″ by 10.5″. If you do not know how to make a rosette, then you have to visit the wonderful video on Assembling Paper Rosettes in the Craft Room video library. I then used my Pen Tool and a green fine tip Sharpie marker to draw the Thank You So Much sentiment and then cut that out. I cut some more of the brown patterned paper, the grid paper and then a thin strip of the blue paper edged by the olive ric rac ribbon to create the border. I lightly edged the chevron paper lace with some blue ink as well as the feathers and the grid paper mat in some Topiary ink. This card came together very easily with the help of a few great files from the Craft Room, my Pen Tool and a fun paper stack!

What a fabulous card! I love the paper you used for the feathers, and how you used the ric rac to mimic the chevron background. Very cool!

Great card Melin! I love the feathers. I had never seen the feathers cutting file before and so now I’m excited about it – especially since yours turned out so wonderful!

Thank you ladies for all your wonderfully kind comments. Doing “masculine” cards or at least attempting to, is such a challenge for me. Pink is my “happy place” and I don’t think my hubby, dad or sons really view it the same way…lol!!!
