I started a tradition years ago to give my kids a first day of school treat. It softens the blow of the end of summer! Near the beginning of this tradition I made door hangers out of toilet paper tubes and so the tradition now includes something that hangs off their bedroom door. I reused the toilet paper tube idea for a few years, but this year it was time for something new and I created these door hanger boxes.
There are three designs to choose from and I included the “Take Note” version so you can have one for the teacher as well. It would make an adorable teacher appreciation gift.
The base of the box is constructed first, with the embellishment piece glued right to the front. Since your child is likely going to appreciate the treats and throw the box away, attach the embellishment to the box with just a glue dot or dimensional dot. That way after the box gift is enjoyed, you can peel that embellishment off and use it as a title for a scrapbook page!
