See Things from a Different Angle

The Inspiration Studio Software has so many amazing tools that we often lose track of some of the smaller but no less useful features. The Italic tool is one such feature. We are all familiar with the term Italic, but perhaps familiarity makes us unable to see the potential hidden there. You may ask, “What is she talking about? Italic is for fonts, right?” Let me help you look at this tool from a different angle. (Pun intended. :))

In the advance toolbar for the Select Elements tool, you will find the Italic button right in the middle. To use the tool: type a word, select it and click on the Italic button. A box with a round handle will appear around the word. Click on the handle with your mouse and drag to angle (or slant) the word. With the Italic feature you can angle the word left or right as little or as much as you want! How cool is that! Right away you will realize that this Italic feature gives you a lot more control than the basic Italic choice in a word processor.

Try making a few letters italic and leave the rest alone. This will give a fun and funky look to your word or title. Simply Break the Text by Letter and choose a letter to use the Italic feature on. Slant one forward and another one back. The great thing about the Italic tool is that the bottom of the letter stays stationary so that everything is still aligned. You can also make an entire title or paragraph italic. Select everything and use the italic tool on the entire group. Everything will be slanted exactly the same angle and direction.

But don’t stop there. Now, try the Italic tool with images. You can make a swirl look like a galaxy or slant an ordinary heart to make it more contemporary. Create motion by making that trotting pony look like it is running fast. Once you start playing with this simple tool you will find many ways to use it. Click on the buttons below to watch the video to see more examples of how to use the Italic tool.

I have to say the Pazzles Craft Room is such a great place to come learn and get inspiration. Well worth being apart of- like coming home,(home page) getting hugs(freebies, downloads and appreciation of creativity) and being reminded of the endless possibilities one can create(tricky tuesdays and all the rest of PCR). Thank you SOOOOOOOOooooooooo much for everything you do and are. With the help of PCR my PI is not just a “toy on the shelf forgotten about”- its my escape into creative-land…. Thank you again for my inspiration to create for the day…Melinda
