Doing the Twist

I’ve been cutting some heavier chipboard and found that my mat will sometimes slip as I’m cutting. How do I avoid this?

Milley R. Sherwood Park, CA

I’ve touched on previous blogs about the concept of pressure and how much downward force is pushed on to your mat. This can sometimes cause problems if the blade is out really far or the pressure is up very high. Sometimes the blade can get caught in the loops and curls as the blade is moving through the project. If this happens on occasion the mat can begin to slip out of place as the Inspiration is moving the mat to make the cut. When this happens, try reducing the amount of pressure you are using, you can always go back and increase the pressure if you find it isn’t enough. Another reason that this can happen is if the mat isn’t lined up properly into the guides on the Inspiration. If the mat is lapped over on the ledge on the right hand side it will start to feed the mat in crooked. If trying these suggestions does not work for you the next step is going to be to contact Pazzles Technical Support so that we can troubleshoot the issue and see if maybe your Inspiration needs to be brought in and tested by our repair dept.
