Basket of Hearts Valentine Décor

With Christmas done and dusted, it’s now time to consider Valentine’s decorations and gifts.

My project was chosen by browsing through the Craft Room Library and this file, Heart Flower Basket jumped out at me. I thought it would look great as wall or door décor on a larger scale.
To achieve that, all I had to do was resize the entire image before breaking it up and then selecting cardstock for each colour to cut, decorate and assemble.

I decided to switch out the bow that is in the original file with the Dimensional Bow file. I haven’t used this file for anything bigger than a card yet, so I was excited to test it out on a larger scale. I resized it to the full width of my mat and when assembled it looked great. I’m really glad I decided to use that instead. For the bow tails I cut the long strip in half so I could place them underneath the bow hanging down. With the red KindyGlitz around the edges, the bow tails took on a bit of a curl which looked terrific. I edged all of the red hearts with the red KindyGlitz as well and the give a nice shimmer to the whole project. Copic markers are fabulous for edging your cardstock. I used a green copic for all of the leaves.

I decided not to use the big heart in front of the pot. As an alternative, you could choose to add a personal message on the pot or use a pocket with a little note card inside, or leave it as I’ve done it and hang it up for decoration.
So simple, yet so effective. Happy crafting everyone!
