I know most people use an advent calendar to count the days before Christmas, but it’s our family’s tradition to count down to Valentine’s Day. This tradition started out accidentally. One year we were so busy during the Christmas holidays we forgot to bring out the advent calendar. The kiddos noticed about three days before Christmas and we were all a little disappointed. So that year, to make up for it, we created a Valentine’s Day advent calendar and we have done one every year since. I am sharing this year’s calendar with you so you can share in our tradition and maybe start one of your own.
This calendar will make a great gift for a special teacher, or you could put love notes behind the doors for your Valentine. I made one using masculine colors for my son and one with more feminine colors for my daughter. I plan on putting candy and small prizes in their calendars. I’ve included templates to decorate each of the 14 doors. You can cut out all the elements for the doors or you can use the print and cut feature if you are short on time. Either way, I know whoever you give this advent calendar to will have fun discovering the treats you’ve hidden for them each day!
