Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I’m so excited! Even though we haven’t made it through Christmas yet, I’m already thinking about Valentine’s Day! The holidays just keep coming, don’t they? Before too much longer we will hear the birds chirping and welcoming spring time. Spring is always a great time to renew everything old and make it new—it’s like turning a new leaf for the trees, as well as for us! Even though it’s not quite spring yet, I still thought it would be a great time to talk about the Inspiration and any ‘spring cleaning’ that it may need.
I get asked on a regular basis if there is any general maintenance that needs to be done with the Inspiration and the answer is no. However, it won’t hurt to take a little TLC from time to time and wipe the machine down to remove the build up of adhesive and any paper fibers. Since the Inspiration is made of hard, durable plastic there’s not going to be too much that will hurt the machine. There is an array of different cleaning products out there. What I like to use is a gentle cleaning cloth similar to a wet wipe. You moms with young babies probably have just the thing on hand. The reason I like using something that’s like a wet wipe is because it won’t easily tear the cloth as you clean and scrub the Inspiration. Also, the formula used in wet wipes is non abrasive. If it’s tender enough for children, it will be just fine on the Inspiration too. You can even use a soft rag with mild soap to clean your machine. The reason that the wet wipes work best for me is because I love the fact they are accessible, easy to store, and come with just the right amount of moisture. They are also cheap and can easily be thrown away after use. It might take a little elbow grease to get some of the build up off of the cutting strip on your Inspiration, but when you finally do, it’s like a new machine all over again! I’m always so impressed with how nice it looks after a good clean up. I would not recommend using any harsh cleaning supplies, or brushes on your Inspiration, but a wet wipe or soft cloth is a sure bet.
Finally, something that us women out there will actually enjoy cleaning…our Inspirations!!!
Thank you for the tip! I will have to spend a little time sprucing the ol gals up 🙂
