Where Were You in 1999?

clocksChristmas is behind us though we are sure you haven’t quite recovered from it yet. In fact, if you are like many of us you probably don’t WANT to recover! We hope your Christmas was filled with love and wonderful memories. New Year’s is lurking right around the corner now, hard to believe it will be 2010! Was it really 10 years ago that we were worried about Y2K? I remember where I was on  New Year’s Eve 1999. This will probably show my age! I was home with my best friends, her parents, and my parents sipping sparkling cider and playing board games. I was a real party animal at that age! When the ball dropped and our power was still on, our computers still working, and the world continued to turn I promptly went to bed. So now you know where I was, where were you?

I had flown up to PA for the holidays from Daytona Beach. I went to a party hosted by people from my high school days and had a blast. They had rented a hall and we had tons of food, music….like a combined class reunion with all of the different grade levels present. Everyone still looked similar to what they had in high school. Amazing.

I then got on a plane to come back to Daytona. I was never afraid of flying on Y2K. My rationale was this: If I was meant to live…I was going to live. And likewise, if I was meant to die…I was going to die. If I was in the air…I might crash….or if I was on the ground…the plane would crash into me…or I would live…and did! What God wanted to do with my lifespan was His to deal with and not mine. So, I enjoyed myself and had a nice flight back because the airports and planes were lacking frightened passengers. I also met my husband that year! 😀 What a catch HE was! 🙂

I love this topic– I live in a small town in Northern Lower Michigan and of cource we have rivals with other small towns. Another couple and my husband and I were in the “other small town” at the local bar eating and drinking and having fun. We laughed and joked about the world coming to an end…. well we didn’t want our head stones to say we died in Y2K in our rivals town..
Well we are still here and still kicking…my time flies.

Mmmm…let me think, where was I? Oh yeah!! Same place as Amanda since I’m one of her parents. I guess we weren’t party animals either!!! LOL!
