Opening Cutting Files

I have some files that I want to use that I’ve downloaded from your website. When I click on the file it says it can’t open the WPC. File. I downloaded it right from your website, why can’t I get them to open?

When you download and save the cutting files to your computer, you’ll want to make sure that you’re opening them through the software. That means you will need to have the Inspiration Studio software opened on your computer and retrieve the cutting file through the software. If you just simply click on the cutting file from the saved location, your computer won’t recognize the file or how to open it. That’s because the cutting file was created in a version of software that your computer doesn’t recognize—in sorts just like a language barrier. Once your software is open, click on the manila folder in the upper left hand corner and search for the location of where you saved the cutting file. Once you have it located click on the WPC. File and it will import the image right to your page.

Just to clarify, there IS a way to set up your files so that you can click on them and they will open. But that’s something you have to set up on your computer and if you haven’t, then you’ll need to do it the way Tatum described. It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with the file though.

If you would like to associate the wpc files to your Inspiration Software, you can associate your computer to that. To do this, you will need to RIGHT MOUSE click on the file, it will bring up a menu with the option to OPEN WITH, then select set default program, you will have the opportunity to browse to the Inspiration Software. Then your file is set.

Just to mention also, my preferred way is to IMPORT the file to the software, that way, if I make any major changes to it and then SAVE it, I don’t lose my original.

Thanks for the tip KLo, i wasn’t too sure if this was the correct thing to do to save the original. Now i know, it’s a question i keep forgetting to ask:-)

If we are saving files from the Craftroom that are alreay in .WPC format, I take it those will come through without being in the Pazzles software, correct?
