Get Well Overlay Card

Get Well Overlay CardI love the look that overlays can add to a project. They can range from simple to complex depending on the design and the look you want to achieve for your project. I chose this fun Flourish Overlay file from the Overlay section under the Decorative Category and shrunk it down to 3.5″ x 3.5″ so that it fit on the front of my 4″ x 5″ card. Who said those overlays are just for 12″ x 12″ projects?!

Keep in mind when shrinking down an overlay, that you don’t want a design that has too much detail. All those little bits and pieces might not cut as well as the larger design did. You may need to go in and remove parts of the design to get a clean, finished look.

The Ribbon Tag is from the Tag section in the Decorative category. I used my Inspiration Pen Tool to journal “Get Well” on the front of my card, but you can add any sentiment you desire to fit the occasion.

I like how this project illustrates the use of designs that we think can only be used for larger projects. It helps to think outside of the box. Based on all the talent I see in the Craft Room, you’re all putting the images in the library to good use and making some great stuff!!

Great card, Tatum. I think the craftroom is wonderful for helping us all think outside the usual box – just look at all different ideas in the albums! Thanks!

Tatum, thank you for the timely idea. I needed a birthday card and didn’t was spending too much time trying to figure out what to make and then there you were to the rescue. I made mine with blue and green vellum behind and glittered it. It turned out really pretty. Thanks.

This is a great idea! I will have to remember it when I need a quick card. You do have to choose a design that can be easily shrunk. I have tried the more complicated ones…way to time intensive. 🙂
