I’ve got all this ribbon, now what?

More than 100 ways to use ribbon... bows, flowers, braids, and more!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been collecting ribbon to use in your projects. And, if you’re anything like me, you have two techniques for it. (I know, I’m boring in the ribbon department!) It seems like all I ever do is use my ribbons as a border between different areas of my project, or to tie a sentiment tag to my cards. I know I can do more and get out of my ribbon rut!

For this Goodie Bag, I went looking for new and exciting ways to use ribbon. I hope you’re sitting down, because I found over 100 different things to do!

First, I was interested in ribbon flowers. You know you can make awesome dimensional flowers, like these twirled flowers, with your Pazzles Inspiration, but sometimes a softer look is called for. I think these 19 ways to make ribbon flowers are nice. There are also a lot of ribbon flower and other tutorials at the Reasonable Ribbon blog. May Arts has a lot of video tutorials as well.

Second, I looked at different types of ribbon bows. I can’t even count, list, or wrap my mind around the multitude of ways to tie bows: Single, double, and winged bowsMedallion bows; Tailored/Dior bows; Tails-down bows; Boutique bows; Korkers; there are bows shaped like animals and bugs too!

There’s no limit to the ways you can apply ribbons to projects. I know I just glue them flat a lot, but to get more textured effects I want to try braided, ruched, pleated, and woven.

If that’s still not enough, here’s 101 other ideas for ribbon projects. After all that, I should never be in a ribbon rut again! Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments.

Happy Crafting!
~Amanda~

Thank you Amanda, your info is so helpful for me..
I LOVE ribbon & make monthly trips to a Offray ribbon outlet store within 15 miles of my home, where they have big rolls of ribbon, for $1.49 each.. in Hagerstown Md. I have even used 3inch wide plain and printed ribbon, with dies, on my BigKick and they cut beautiful.. no frays..
